I’m RAI, a street artist working in graffiti and illustration, active in Israel since 2022.
On the streets, you’ll find the characters I paint: winged elves — majestic creatures that blend human form with fantasy.
No two elves are ever the same.
Each elf is painted freehand, using a rich spectrum of color to express individuality and emotion.
They invite the viewer to recognize something familiar — an earthly, human shape - then challenge it with the unreal: a body stuck to concrete, yet somehow still flying.
I didn't plan to paint elves — they just appeared. Over time, I realized they carried something I couldn’t put into words: a mix of vulnerability, strength, and the surreal.
Hope you can relate to the things I do:

'Year of Hope' 2024 Exhibition, Petah Tikva
The exhibition’s concept marked one year since October 7th.
It spanned three floors, each dedicated to a different theme.
The theme of my floor was: “Healing and Growth Through Rupture.”
The concept of my room centers around the cycle of healing and trauma. During and after a crisis, it takes time to gather ourselves into our "healed version." This process is challenging and often requires us to work through grief, fear, anxiety, and despair. BUT — as we navigate this journey, there’s always a part of us that remains intact, unique, and pure. This is what the wings represent, as they are never fully covered. Even in times of crisis, our wings are still there, though it may be hard to see or feel them. This is why the characters in my piece are gradually covered and uncovered, symbolizing the blindness that often accompanies grief or deep trauma.
